On Monday, the CAA announced that members of both JMU men’s and women’s soccer received conference player of the week awards for their play last week. JMU women’s soccer’s sophomore forward/midfielder Ginger Deel and men’s soccer’s senior forward Aaron Ward-Baptiste were named CAA Players of the Week.
Deel had two assists in the Dukes’ 2-0 win over Towson on Thursday and had two goals against UNCW on Sunday, including an overtime winner. Deel, who has five goals and assists, is second in the team in both categories.
Ward-Baptiste claimed his second CAA Player of the Week award of the season for his performance against the College of Charleston. The Englishman had a goal and an assist in JMU’s 3-1 win over the Cougars. He has a team-high five goals and also leads the team in points with 12.
JMU women’s soccer (7-7, 4-1-0 CAA) travels to South Carolina to take on the College of Charleston on Thursday. JMU men’s soccer (6-3-2, 4-1-0 CAA) faces in-state rival William & Mary on Wednesday.
