TJ Bush

Redshirt sophomore goalie TJ Bush earned nine shutouts this season, which is the third most out of any player in the nation.

After extending his shutout streak to four matches, JMU men’s soccer redshirt sophomore goalkeeper TJ Bush was named CAA Player of the Week on Monday. Freshman defender Melker Anshelm also earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors.

Bush held both Navy and Penn State scoreless this past week and now has nine total shutouts, the third most in the nation. Bush boasts a 0.51 goals against average, which is the best mark in the conference.

Helping Bush find success in goal was Anshelm, who scored his first collegiate goal in JMU’s 1-0 win over Navy. He started in both matches against Navy and Penn State, playing 59 and 60 minutes, respectively. This is the Sweden native’s third rookie of the week award this season.

The Dukes (10-3-2, 6-1-0 CAA) have one more non-conference match Tuesday when they host Longwood at 7 p.m. Their last match is Saturday at home against Elon, where a win will solidify a second-consecutive CAA regular season title.
