Riley Stapleton will serve a three-game suspension to start the 2019 season. Stapleton will be eligible to play in the Dukes' fourth game against Chattanooga.

JMU football redshirt senior wide receiver Riley Stapleton has been suspended for the first three games of the 2019 season, JMU Athletics announced Friday. 

Stapleton, who’s entering his final year of eligibility with the team, pleaded no contestto a Class-2 misdemeanor charge of false imprisonment in early April. The incident occurred in June 2017 in Stapleton’s hometown of Indiana, Pennsylvania. 

Due to federal privacy laws, JMU can’t make any further comments regarding student conduct allegations, JMU Athletics said in a statement. 

Stapleton will sit out against West Virginia, St. Francis (PA) and Morgan State. The first game he’ll be eligible to play in will be against Chattanooga.
