The College Football Performance Awards announced Tuesday that JMU football redshirt senior quarterback Ben DiNucci had been named to the CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Watch List.
DiNucci started all 13 games for the Dukes last season after transferring into the program from Pitt. The Wexford, Pennsylvania, native recorded 2,275 passing yards and 16 touchdowns while also excelling on the ground with 433 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns — the highest on the team.
Last season, DiNucci tossed at least two touchdown passes in four games and had two games with more than one rushing score. DiNucci completed 211 of his 309 pass attempts.
While DiNucci had rough patches during the season, including being pulled after two quick turnovers against New Hampshire, he earned a selection to Third Team All-CAA. This is the second-straight season DiNucci has been named to the CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Watch List, which includes 40 members of the FCS.
