Writing

The Breeze is always recruiting new writers to join its team. There is no previous newspaper experience necessary to write for us. We encourage all majors and years to apply.

There are five different sections that you can write for. The Breeze has news, culture, sports and opinion and business sections, and each section manages its own writers.

If you would like to get involved or have any questions contact the editor at breezeeditor@gmail.com. If you are ready to join our team, fill out our interest form here and we'll get in contact with you.

Photography

Due to the competitive nature of being a photographer at The Breeze, the Photo editors require those interested to fill out an application. While experience in photojournalism isn't required, it can be helpful.

The Breeze offers a variety of assignments that photographers can shoot. Assignments range from JMU sporting events, portrait assignments, news events and photo illustrations. The Breeze uses a variety of Nikon and Canon professional camera equipment. Having your own equipment is helpful, but not required.

If you're interested in getting involved, contact the Photo editors at breezephotography@gmail.com.

Breeze TV & Videography

Those interested in videography are encouraged to work for The Breeze. The Video editor works with fellow videographers and reporters to produce packages that correspond with stories written for the newspaper.

The Breeze covers assignments such as JMU athletic games, community and campus events, and feature packages. Video pieces can follow traditional broadcast journalism standards or can be more suited to new media online style, some of which can be made into mini-documentaries.

Those interested in getting involved with the video department should contact the Video editor at breezevideo1@gmail.com & jmubreezetv@gmail.com.
