Patrol officers responded to a shots fired call around E. Rock Street and Myrtle Street at about 10 p.m. Monday. A news release stated there was at least one gun shot, but no one was believed to be injured.
The Harrisonburg Police Department believes the suspect left the scene on foot and was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon. Gerardo Villeda-Romero, 26, of Harrisonburg, was arrested and charged with brandishing a firearm, discharging a firearm in a public space, reckless handling of a firearm and possession and transport of a firearm by a convicted felon. Romero is being held at the Rockingham County Jail without bond.
