Sophomore engineering major David Bedard was arrested Tuesday afternoon after strangling an individual on JMU property, University Spokesman Bill Wyatt said. The arrest was made by JMUPD. The identity of the person attacked hasn't been released.
Wyatt said Bedard wasn’t a threat to the community but a no trespass order is permanent, depending on the result of the trial. JMUPD has partnered with the Commonwealth's Attorney Office to conduct the investigation. Wyatt said more charges may be made against Bedard as the investigation continues.
