minor solicitation

The arrests are a result of a recently conducted task force by the Staunton Police Department.

The Staunton Police Department has arrested nine individuals — one from Harrisonburg — after conducting a task force investigation on the online solicitation of minors. The investigation took approximately one month, and arrests were made from mid-March until last week.

SPD is a member agency of the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is comprised of specially trained investigators according to Katherine Shifflett, public information officer for SPD.

“No specific tip or incident prompted this investigation,” Shifflett said. “The task force, something this department does, works on an ongoing basis.”
