HPD said the Thursday Myrtle Street shooting seems to be an isolated incident.

 

At around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Harrisonburg Police Department officers were sent to the 300 block of Myrtle Street for a reported gunshot wound. Once officers arrived, they located a male with a gunshot wound to the lower leg. 

The individual was transported to Sentara RMH Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a news release. HPD said the shooting seems to be an isolated incident.

The suspect was described as a male wearing a hoodie, shorts and sneakers. According to the release, the suspect fled the scene on foot heading west on E. Rock Street. 

HPD requests that anyone who may have witnessed the crime or may have related information contact HPD’s Major Crimes Unit at 540-437-2640. Individuals wishing to remain anonymous can do so by calling 540-574-5050 or by texting “HPD” and their tip to CRIMES (274637).
