On Sunday, multiple people contacted the Harrisonburg Police Department about an individual who was making threats of violence against the community over various social media platforms.
Investigators quickly identified and apprehended the individual. Samuel Mays, 22, of Harrisonburg was arrested and charged with knowingly communicating threats to do bodily harm.
With Mays in custody, HPD claimed that there’s no further threat to the community. HPD would like to remind the community that all threats of violence, including those made on the Internet, are taken seriously and will be investigated if the police are made aware.
