water main break

A temporary provision was installed Monday, however, workers are trying to install a permanent solution.

The Harrisonburg Public Utilities Department is in the process of repairing a water main break that occurred around noon Monday. Public Utilities staff members were on site that afternoon at the corner of University Boulevard and East Market Street to evaluate the magnitude of the break.

A temporary provision was installed in an effort to restore power around 7-10 p.m. last night, however, HPUD is still working on a permanent fix for the break. Residents may experience an interruption in water service during the repair. Once the water is restored, customers may temporarily see discolored water, which is common after a process like this takes place.
