This lecture by Dr. Shah Hanifi is organized around JMU’s recent acquisition of a set of 1920s photograph-postcards from Afghanistan, a country that gained independence from British India in 1919. These postcards circulated globally and are discussed as elements of a re-branding strategy that deployed photography in pursuit of national distinction and international recognition.
This event will be held in Carrier Library room 301!
