JMU Grad creates original animations to bring joy to people during the COVID-19 pandemic

Keeping up with JMU Alumni, this week Breeze TV’s reporter Addison Cole was able to meet Multimedia Artist, Mostafa Ahmed. Mostafa is a recent 2020 Grad from JMU and has picked up hobbies through this quarantine time.

Growing up with great cartoons such as SpongeBob, Hey Arnold, and Ed, Edd n Eddy, Mostafa has always had a love for animation. At a later videography job, Mostafa took the initiative to get a better well rounded story by incorporating animation. He started from scratch by teaching himself After Effects, and was determined to learn this new skill.

Fast forward to the beginning of quarantine, Mostafa decided to continue and grow this skill. Mostafa now has created a full instagram page dedicated to his animation and other graphics, and is aspiring to some day start his own business with the art. Initially creating his animations to lift up the spirits of COVID quaranteeners, he now uses his stories to involve current events and nostalgic memories.

Not included in this interview cut, Mostafa mentions his two favorite animations are Homeless Brands and His tribute to Chadwick Boseman. These animations are produced solely by Mostafa and truly bring a laugh to the audience.
