Gina Chavez, a Latin American singer, is coming to Harrisonburg Friday, Feb. 4. She's been featured on NPR's "Tiny Desk Concert" and even performed music with a band as a US ambassador.

JMU's Forbes Center is her first stop on her first tour since 2020. Reporter Moses Harris interviews the artist on her latest album La Que Manda as well as a series of other topics pertaining to the Latinx musician.

Chavez was Born in Austin, Texas, half Mexican and half Swiss-German, where she was touches on her early life within a Catholic family and coming out as lesbian.

Women’s empowerment is also given attention when referencing her music during the interview while getting a look at her inspiration for her music that lead to her Latin Grammy nomination in 2020.
