Sports Reporter Jordan Simal of Breeze TV sits down in an online, international interview with former JMU Women’s Basketball guard Kamiah Smalls, whose rookie season began in celebration before heading to Indianapolis and has since gone overseas.

Smalls is now playing professional basketball in Italy, and in this exclusive interview, Kamiah explains her experience being drafted by the WNBA’s Indiana Fever back in April and life in the WNBA Bubble in Florida this past summer before her move to Europe, where she’s currently learning the pace of the game behind European basketball. Her rookie season has clearly been anything but orthodox, as the majority of Smalls’ time in the WNBA was spent not in Indiana… but in the basketball bubble in Florida.

Kamiah also discusses her interactions with teammates and coaches, particularly her still-strong relationship with JMU Women’s Basketball Coach Sean O’Regan and her new career going pro following a shortened senior year at JMU. Her “Mamba Mentality” has followed her to Europe and with her love for Harrisonburg still strong, Smalls is still proud to be a Duke.

Like the rest of us, Smalls is hoping to catch a game at the soon-to-be-opened Union Atlantic Bank Center once the new basketball season begins at James Madison.
